Problem
Gold is perceived as a symbol of luxury, and affluence. Yet it's actually an asset with life-saving potential.
There's gold in diagnostic tests, vaccines, and nanotechnology. In fact, most of the 412 million malaria tests sold in 2018 contained gold.
Insight
The life-saving uses of gold in medicine aren’t widely known or understood by the general public.
How can we quickly educate people to gold’s benefits while simultaneously making a real impact?
Idea
The Golden Pharmacy.
The outside plays into that perception of gold to draw you in – with a luxurious, jewellery display look and feel. But inside, it's actually empty bottles that represent the life-saving treatments and tests made possible thanks to gold, where you can purchase for people in need.
Each product purchased will donate directly to Doctor's Without Borders, funding Malaria Vaccines for communities in need in Ghana. All packaging will be empty, besides information on gold's role within the product and the impact your donation has.
Web Experience
Donate online
Allowing those that didn't visit The Golden Pharmacy to make an impact, with a live-time tracking feature that shows the number of doses administered.
Impact
Our Goal? To vaccinate 1 million people against malaria.
This is an idea we believe in, it has the potential to bring vaccinations to communities in need across Ghana, where three children die everyday from the disease.
